Well, gang, we have our first Class of 2013 commitment.

But if you checked out our “Updated recruiting review and commitment rundown” during the day, you already know this.

Syosset sophomore goaltender Ryan Feit has given a verbal commitment to Johns Hopkins University.

Be sure to check back here for more on that.

Last night at this time, we told you about two star midfielders from the Hudson Valley who committed to Division I programs.

One of them is Siena College-bound Kevin Christopher of defending Class C sectional champion Putnam Valley.

Here’s a Q&A with Kevin on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision to attend Siena?
The quality of the competition that I will be playing against, and the academics that go along with Siena.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I was considering Sacred Heart and Middlebury and visited Cortland and Florida Southern College.

What adjustments do you think you will need to make to play at the next level?
I need to get stronger and faster to be able to compete with kids older than me, and also work on my weak-hand play.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I would say my strengths would be athleticism and my ability to dodge and shoot on the run. I like to push the ball whenever transition is possible.

What players have you looked up to as you have moved up through the varsity ranks?
I have looked up to my cousin’s Joey and Peter Morgan the most out of all previous players.

When did you first realize you had the potential to play at the college level?
When I had been moved up to varsity in 9th grade and was able to beat our starting defensemen and blend in with our team even though I was much younger.

    12rock,

    Yes congrats to Kevin.

Nice to have all the Section 1 kids (PV, Rye,Somers, LP) playing together next yr at Siena.

  3. 13rock says:

Siena is really stacking up on Section 1 talent!

On a side note, if there was a college D1 team that was literally made up of the best Section 1 seniors every year, how do you think they’d fare? Like if all seniors were required to go there next year, and the team picked out the legitimate best. Not like the Empire team best. What teams do you think they could compare to?

Needless to say, I think Section 11 could have a pretty competitive team.

  4. 13rock says:

Oh, and of course, congrats to Kevin! I saw you play this year, and you were awesome. I know you’ll do awesome at the next level.
