When James Barlow first started playing lacrosse as a fourth-grader, he hardly could have imagined where it would take him.

The senior attackman at Kingswood-Oxford in West Hartford, Conn., has given a verbal commitment to Towson University.

The 5-10, 165-pound attackman is a quick and elusive player who can feed and finish.

He established himself as a Division I recruit thanks in large part to his impressive play for the CT Bulldog Elite Gray team.

Here’s a Q&A with James on his commitment:

What were the main factors in your decision to attend Towson?
The excellent coaching staff, the business school and strength of schedule.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit? Georgetown, Lafayette, Fairfield, Middlebury, Hartford, Tufts, and Trinity. I visited all these.

What adjustments do you think you will need to make to play at the next level?
Continue to develop as a player and increase my strength.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My quickness and my ability to see the field and my teammates.  Scoring, assisting along with quarterbacking an offense is something I look to do every year.

What players have you looked up to as you have moved up through the varsity ranks?
Kenny Nims, Casey Powell, Rob Pannell, Ben Rubeor and he Duke line of (Matt) Danowski, (Zack) Greer and (Max) Quinzani.  I have also had the opportunity to have some amazing coaches at K-O as well as with the CT Bulldog Elite organization.

When did you first realize you had the potential to play at the college level?
My freshman year when I started varsity for K-O and led the team in overall points.  Playing on the CT Bulldog Elite Gray team, competing and having success against some of the top teams made me realize my hopes of playing college were a real possibility.

Joe- This would have been the perfect summer for a program to start there. Every player would have loved to announce ‘i’m taking my talents to south beach”
