Combine outstanding stick skills with good size and what do you get?

An attackman with the necessary ingredient to play at the next level.

Meet senior Lewis Thompson from Newtown (Conn.) High School.

The 6-foot, 205-pound Thompson will be taking his talents to the Midwest, where he will join the Division III program at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.

What were the main factors in your decision to attend Wittenberg?
Wittenberg is a beautiful place. I stayed overnight with the team and they are such a tight group. Everyone hangs out together and they are all really good guys. Coach (George) Harris showed a lot of interest in me and aside from lacrosse, I believe that Wittenberg was the best place for me to go to school and get a great education.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
The University of New England, Salve Regina, Castleton State and Eastern Connecticut State University.

What adjustments do you think you will need to make to play at the next level?
College lacrosse is very fast. I will need to be able to always go as fast as possible the whole game. I will also need to be able to attack the cage whenever I can and not back away from pressure.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I believe my strengths are that I am able to view the field and control the offense from X. My style of play is smooth and unselfish.

What players have you looked up to as you have moved up through the varsity ranks?
The past two years, I have loved watching (University of Virginia star) Steele Stanwick. He is such a smart player.

When did you first realize you had the potential to play at the college level?
I have always wanted to play in college. I have always known that it was possible. It was just up to me to work hard and get to that position.
