Fall has arrived, and when it comes to lacrosse recruiting, that means there’s no busier
time for commitments.

If you check our “Updated recruiting review and commitment rundown” each day, you know this.

Over the weeknight, we had a couple of major verbals.

First, I learned yesterday that attackman/midfielder Jake Froccaro from Paul Schreiber Senior High School in Port Washington, who is one of the nation’s top juniors, committed to Princeton. Froccaro, who was the youngest member of the Long Island scholastic men’s team at this past summer’s Empire Game Games, will join his brother, Jeff, at Princeton. Jeff Froccaro just completed a standout freshman season for the Tigers.

Last night, came word of another big commitment. Mahopac senior TJ Foley (pictured above), an athletic, two-way midfielder who has helped the Indians’ football team jump out to a 3-0 start, informed me that it is lacrosse that will be his future in college. And he will play it at Drexel University.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Foley was a standout this past summer on the Hudson Valley Empire State Games team.

Here’s a Q&A with TJ on his commjtment:

What were the main factors in your decision to attend Drexel?
I liked the atmosphere around Drexel and it has a great engineering program.

What other schools did you consider?
Stony Brook, Manhattan, Sacred Heart, RPI, Binghamton, Cortland and Western New England.

What adjustments do you think you will need to make to play at the next level?
I will need to improve on my accuracy and agility.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I am a big, clearing middie that can play both ways.

What players have you looked up to as you have moved up through the varsity ranks?
When I was younger I looked up to Matt Leithead, Matt Girsh, Tony Tanzi and Shawn McDonough.

When did you first realize you had the potential to play at the college level?
I realized I could play at the college level when I was a freshman and got pulled up to varsity
