Joe said on MSG this spring Bobby Duvynjak (sp) was the best defensive prospect he’s seen in years. Guess Inside Lacrosse agrees!

  4. LI Guy says:

I remember Joe saying that. Honestly I didn’t know Duvnjak was that good before I heard him say that. Good job Joe!

  5. Laxerrr says:

Seems like Inside Lacrosse is very pro Baltimore and anti Hudson Valley. I know they are located in Baltimore but they should try to get out more and see players everywhere not just Baltimore.

  6. just the facts says:

Prime Time is NOT all JJ players. They have many players at all age levels from all over Westchester and many different high schools….Brewster, Rye, Bronxville, Fordham, RCDS, Mamaroneck, TP, Hackley, to name a few. Your comment on PT (playing time) could not be farther from the truth. All the kids play. I’m sure the kids from Bronxville–McCormack (Gtown) and Near (ND) got plenty of PT. The younger teams are loaded also and many of the studs are not JJ. They all get plenty of PT. Prime Time is a great (and diverse) program that is home to much of the top talent in the area.

  7. slacrosse says:

    just the facts,

Interesting and good. I had thought PT with a very few exceptions was strictly a team for Jay team. Great program and good to see it’s open to all kids!

  8. Lax Novice says:

With 5 of the top 6 rising juniors named by IL from Long Island and Connecticut, that IL Baltimore bias must be taking August off.

If Hudson Valley wants to be considered a hotbed again, then some of the teams there better start beating teams from Sect. 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 and 11. John Jay seems to be the only school capable of competing with schools from these other regions, and they are supposed to be “loaded” this year. So until you start winning those inter-regional matchups, you can relive the glory days by catching some of the Westchester guys in college, and forget about HS for the time being.

  9. Laxin says:

Good point about Prime Time having players from all over. Two of their better players are Jack Near and Charlie McCormick from Bronxville – two D-1 recruits.

  10. Bigeasy says:

Town has beaten Chaminade 3 years in a row, St Anthonys 2 of the last 3, etc. They can play with those teams but need to beat them in the playoffs.

  11. Lax n stuff says:

Obviously LI has more players and more people than HV or CT but I think HV is not well represented enough in these rankings.

  12. Lax Novice says:

Based on what? It’s not results in the spring, that’s for sure.

Let’s face facts, it’s great to argue whether Primetime is better than WestRock or somebody else locally. But the lack of HV players in the national publications isn’t an accident. Blaming others for alleged biases or making up other excuses is baseless. The people who evaluated the HV stars of the past decade are the same people making up those lists today.

  13. agh, lists, lists, lists says:

People in Section One obsess over lists and rankings. They do it for local high school teams and players, and on a national level when comparing to LI, Maryland.

I do not believe that there is an accurate way to rank these guys the way people and publications do – if there was then every guy they rank would be a stud in college, but that does not happen. It’s much like the drafts in pro sports – some guys live up to their ranking and others do not.

Plenty of high school guys who are on those lists and in those publications go on to have ho-hum DI careers because at the end of the day they were solid DIII players, but had solid high school careers and got great looks because of the high schools they attended. Can anybody name the #18 guy on the IL Top 50 from 2007?

The funny thing about Section One people is that they will “shut out” good players who play on so-so high school teams, (Sleepy, Croton, Clarkstown) reserving the spots on their lists for only those who play on the big teams, (JJ, Yorktown) saying “…look at who they play, so they must be better…”; but when they get shut out of national or regional rankings they resent it because they are then the small fish in the big pond. Ha. I love that.

You want the big time pub in Section One? Then win state championships and put a serious team on the field for Empire and w-i-n…and it will come.
