Can Long Island make it five Empire State Games scholastic men’s lacrosse gold medals? To do it, Long Island will have to beat a Central team it fell to 8-7 in overtime on Friday. That’s the major lax-related story line as the 32nd annual event wraps up in Buffalo.

The gold-medal game is set for today at 11 a.m. at Canisius College.

The bronze-medal game, between Western and Adirondack, is set for 9 a.m. on Sunday at Canisius.

Hudson Valley closed out the Games with a 1-4 record after falling to Central last night.

Just as the Empire State Games end today, another showcase event will be starting. It marks the unofficial end of the live July evaluation period for Division I college programs.
