This is a big season for Kevin Walsh – and for North Rockland.

Walsh, a 6-foot-3, lefty-shooting attackman, hopes to lead the Red Raiders to another Rockland County championship while increasing his chances of taking his game to the college level.

What have you been doing to get ready for the season?
I haven’t stopped playing since last season ended. Lots of tournaments, summer leagues and fall leagues. I’ve been lifting every day, running every day, and trying to rip on cage every day too.

Can you talk about some of the key players you lost from last year and how you think you will be able to replace them?
Shane Warner is our biggest loss at attack and midfield. He could do it all. We’re really going to miss his vision on offense, as well as goal scoring ability. We also lost Tim Osbourne, a three-year starter, at close D. I think Matt Wellington and Steve Perrotto should step up and fill the roles left on defense nicely. I’m hoping to carry some of the offensive load we lost last year, along with Anton Gjeloshi and a few other sophomores.

How does your schedule look and which games are you looking forward to most?
We have a great schedule this year. We play every in team in the county, and we go to Westchester as well. Suffern is definitely the biggest game on the calender, and hopefully we can beat them for the fourth year in a row.

What players on your team do you think will surprise some people this season?
I think that Steve Perrotto and Matt Wellington will be some of the strongest defensemen in the section, and they should help hold down our defense. Thomas Ginty has been working hard and is athletic enough to make a difference this year, and hopefully I will provide some offensive firepower as well.

What do you think the strength of your team will be this year?
Our strength will be our defense. We have four returning starters in Wellington, Perrotto, Brown and Patyi, and five guys that saw lots of minutes.

Look for Kevin to have a breakout season. He has good speed for his size and can rip it.
