East Hampton’s Austin Heneveld has it all.

And Heneveld has the strength, shot, size and quickness to make a big impact at Navy.

The 6-foot-1, 187-pound lefty attackman, who was also a football standout for East Hampton, is the latest subject of our new “Recruit spotlight extra” series.

You can check out an archive of the more than 100 players from throughout the Hudson Valley/Long Island/Connecticut region with their profiles up by clicking here.

Now, on to the Q&A we completed with Austin on his commitment to Navy:

What were the main factors in your decision to attend Navy?
The Naval Academy is a great school with a tremendous reputation for setting young men and women up for success later in life. I always wanted to play for the Navy lacrosse team and it’s an elite program.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I was also considering West Point and actually went to there and stayed with the lacrosse team for a weekend. I also considered some schools for football.

What adjustments do you think you will need to make to play at the next level?
I will need to continue to get stronger and faster and always be in the weight room.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I would describe my style of play as being more isolation dodging with strengths in the velocity of my shot and my split dodge.
What players have you looked up to as you have moved up through the varsity ranks?
My goalie who is a year older then me always had the work ethic to set himself up for success and it really showed come game time. I realized what it took to be a great lacrosse player.
