Joe WoodBronxville attackman/midfielder Joe Wood committed
last night to Division III power Washington and Lee.

Joe Wood of Bronxville is a versatile player who can play both attack and midfield.

And at this time next year, he will be playing for the Washington and Lee Generals.

Wood, a two-time all-section honorable-mention selection, committed to attend W&L last night shortly after returning from a weekend visit, Bronxville coach Tim Horgan told me today.

“Joe is a big strong kid who can and has played both midfield and attack,” Horgan said.  “He led our team in points as a sophomore and was second on the team last year as a junior with 59 points (on 37 goals and 22 assists).”

Horgan said he believes W&L is getting a steal in Wood, whom he labeled one of the most overlooked recruits in the region.

“(Washington & Lee) is getting a great kid,” Horgan said. “Joe is a leader on and off the field.”
